Cactus Corridor West refers to the area west of the 101 Freeway, bounded by Scottsdale Road to the west, Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to the north and Shea Boulevard to the south. This rectangular area of central Scottsdale rests between North Scottsdale and downtown Scottsdale, and is home to several established neighborhoods.
Many of the Cactus Corridor neighborhoods, in general, are well-established and contain homes built primarily between 1970 and 2002. Subdivisions such as Desert Trails and Sundown/Stone Ridge Manor for example, typically offer single-family homes on large lots, and are set back from the street with large front yards. Other neighborhoods such as the golf neighborhood Scottsdale Country Club/Starfire have a range of home sizes, from smaller attached units up to larger single-family three-bedrooms. The Buenavante neighborhood features larger single family homes on larger lots (almost an acre) yet has no HOA. Other subdivisions found within Cactus Corridor West include the McDowell Shadow Estates, Scottsdale Village Estates, Jason Manor, Fox Hollow, Rancho San Carlos, Desert Hills North. All of these neighborhoods share a central location convenient to both the 51 and the 101 freeways.
Things To Do: The Cactus Corridor West has many amenities, including fabulous shopping, thanks to the nearby Scottsdale Quarter, home to an Apple store, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and American Girl. Kierland Commons is just across Scottsdale Road, and offers plenty of fine retailers such as Anthropologie and Crate and Barrel. The Scottsdale Shops area, near the Raintree and Northsight intersection contains many major retailers such as Costco, Kohl’s, Best Buy, Staples and Wal-Mart. Dining opportunities are varied and plentiful in the Cactus Corridor thanks to the many fine dining as well as locally owned restaurants which populate this rectangle.
For active and fitness-minded residents, there are dozens of parks with walking and biking trails, as well as numerous fitness centers. Golfers can take advantage of the year round beautiful weather on courses such as the Starfire Golf Club, the Scottsdale Country Club East and the Orange Tree Golf Resort.
Schools: The schools in this community west of the 101 freeway are part of Paradise Valley Unified School District, an A rated district, and include Sonoran Sky Elementary School, Desert Shadows Middle School and Horizon High School. The Scottsdale Municipal Airport is within Cactus Corridor West, and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is approximately 18 miles away from this area.
